A rare 2018 Ford Mustang GT that was modified by the racing legend Richard Petty's own workshop has been listed for sale, offering collectors a chance to acquire one of the most potent modern muscle cars ever built. The car is one of just 43 Bootlegger Edition examples produced by Petty's Garage of Level Cross, North Carolina, and it has covered only 1,600 miles from new.

The Bootlegger Edition takes the standard Mustang GT and transforms it into a significantly more aggressive machine. At its heart is a direct-injected 5.0-litre Coyote V8 that has been fitted with an Edelbrock TVS 2650 supercharger and a bespoke Petty's Garage ECU calibration. The result is a rated output of 800 horsepower, a figure that places it firmly in supercar territory. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 gears, while revised axles and a cat-back MagnaFlow exhaust system complete the mechanical package.

Visually, the car is finished in Shadow Black and distinguished by a custom race-inspired rear spoiler, Petty's Garage badges, LED headlights with fog lights, and LED taillights with sequential turn signals. It rides on matte black 20-inch Niche alloy wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact tyres, measuring 255/35 at the front and 275/35 at the rear. Braking is handled by Petty's Garage-branded Wilwood calipers over cross-drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners.

The interior has been comprehensively reworked, with the power-adjustable front bucket seats retrimmed in black Katzkin leather featuring white stitching, microfiber inserts, and Petty's Garage logos embroidered into each backrest. Matching material extends to the bolstered rear bench. A Barton short-throw shifter with a Petty's Garage shift knob has been fitted, and a custom dash plaque bearing a Richard Petty signature adds a further signature touch. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and Ford's SYNC infotainment system.

The driving experience is monitored through a multifunction steering wheel that frames a 160-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level, with additional readouts for oil pressure and vacuum stationed in the centre of the dashboard. The digital odometer currently indicates 1,600 miles.

According to the listing, the vehicle failed a California emissions test in June 2026 but subsequently passed in July 2026. It is offered with a Certificate of Authenticity identifying it as number 43 of 43 examples produced, along with a Ford window sticker, manufacturer's literature, a custom car cover, two fob keys, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean California title. The Carfax report also shows a Manufacturer Customer Satisfaction entry and at least one open recall.

The Bootlegger Edition represents a distinctive chapter in the long history of Ford Mustang tuning, blending Detroit muscle with the Petty name's enduring association with American performance. With production limited to just 43 cars and this example showing exceptionally low mileage, it is likely to attract significant interest from collectors when the listing closes.
