A 1962 Studebaker Lark Regal two-door hardtop has been offered for sale with a replacement 259ci V8 engine and a Borg-Warner T-10 four-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in white and light blue over black vinyl upholstery and is presented as a driver with a series of mechanical and cosmetic upgrades carried out over its recent history.
The engine was installed in place of the original inline-six under previous ownership. The seller says it features an R1 camshaft and a « full-flow » oiling system, alongside an Edelbrock 1403 four-barrel carburetor, an electric fuel pump, an aftermarket electronic ignition and an aluminium radiator with an electric cooling fan. An oil leak from the pan gasket is noted in the listing. The car was also converted from a column-shifted three-speed to the four-speed T-10 gearbox, with a replacement driveshaft and a Ford 8.8-inch rear axle fitted with 3.31:1 gearing. The seller points out that the transmission synchronisers will need replacing if the car is to be shifted quickly under performance driving.
Chassis and running gear include 15-inch steel wheels with full covers, fitted with 205/70 Travelstar tyres. The four-wheel disc brakes, which are power assisted, are said to have been sourced from a 1997 Ford Explorer. The seller comments that the car « does steer like an early ’60s automobile », a note that sets expectations for the handling. Other equipment includes Procar front bucket seats, a Painless wiring harness and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl.
The exterior has quad headlights, chrome bumpers and dual side mirrors. The paintwork, which was refinished in white and light blue, shows visible orange peel. Inside, the replacement dash pad, headliner, sun visors and door panels are listed alongside an aftermarket centre console, front lap belts, an AM radio and a cabin heater. The window regulators were serviced under current ownership, while the seller notes that the carpeting requires replacement.
The two-spoke steering wheel sits in front of a 120 mph speedometer, an aftermarket tachometer and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level, although the fuel gauge operates intermittently. The five-digit odometer reads 85,000 miles, with roughly 5,000 of those added during the current owner's period of ownership. The total mileage is unknown.
According to the listing, the car was initially based in Arizona before the seller acquired it in 2023. It is now offered with a clean California title in the seller's name. The car is presented as a restomod-style project with an emphasis on drivability and a modern powertrain within a classic American body shape.
