A 1995 Land Rover Range Rover County Classic LWB, re-powered with a 5.3-litre GM V8 and extensively modified by Legacy Overland, is offered at no reserve in New York with 219,000 miles and a clean Carfax report.

A 1995 Land Rover Range Rover County Classic LWB that has been re-powered with a 5.3-litre GM V8 is being offered at no reserve on consignment in New York. The vehicle, finished in British Racing Green over beige leather, represents a significant example of the growing market for restomodded classic off-roaders, where modern drivetrain reliability is paired with traditional styling.
The current owner acquired the truck around 2020, and the engine swap was carried out in 2023 by Legacy Overland in Danbury, Connecticut. The 5.3-litre GM L82 V8 is said to have been sourced from a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500, and it is mated to a GM 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case. Additional mechanical work included a revised camshaft, updated engine management software, an aluminium radiator, a high-volume fuel pump, an aftermarket intake, tubular headers, and a fabricated exhaust system. A custom driveshaft and transmission cooler were also installed during the build.
The chassis has been modified with coil springs and KYB shock absorbers replacing the factory air suspension, along with a Bilstein steering damper, heavy-duty anti-sway bars, and cross-drilled and slotted brake rotors at both ends. The 16-inch Rostyle steel wheels were refinished in silver and are mounted with 215/85 Cooper Discoverer HT3 tyres. A replacement ABS accumulator and brake light switch were fitted in September 2026, though the selling dealer notes aged suspension components.
Inside, the cabin retains beige leather upholstery on the front seats, a colour-coordinated lower dashboard, door panels, and carpets. A Continental Bluetooth head unit has been installed, and the truck also features air conditioning, wood veneer trim, and replacement speakers. However, several electrical and trim items are inoperative: the clock, seat heating, driver’s memory, and various passenger seat power-adjustment functions do not work, the trim above the air conditioning controls is cracked, the centre console latch is missing, the shifter indicator is misaligned, and the centre dashboard vent shutters, «Highway Overpass» button, and rear window switches are faulty. Wear is visible on the driver’s seat, and the SRS light is illuminated.
Exterior condition reflects the vehicle’s 219,000-mile history. The British Racing Green paint is accented by fog lights, chrome-accented bumpers, taillight guards, and a receiver hitch. The exterior door lock barrels, rear wiper, and left windshield washer nozzle are inoperative, and the driver’s door handle sticks. Dents are present around the body, and additional photos of exterior imperfections and paint meter readings are available in the gallery. Corrosion is visible on portions of the underside, and an exhaust leak is present. The oil pressure sensor is not plugged in, and the selling dealer notes oil seepage from the driveline and various unplugged connectors.
The odometer shows 219,000 miles. The truck is being sold on its Connecticut registration, which serves as the ownership document for vehicles of its age in that state. It comes with service records, spare wheels and parts, and a clean Carfax report showing no accidents or other reported damage. The sale is handled by a BaT Local Partner dealer in New York.
This Range Rover County Classic LWB exemplifies the appeal of classic SUVs that have been mechanically modernised while retaining their original character. The combination of a powerful GM V8, a six-speed automatic, and updated suspension and brakes transforms the driving experience, though the extensive list of cosmetic and electrical faults means the next owner will inherit a project as much as a turnkey classic. The no-reserve format will test the market’s appetite for a well-used but thoughtfully upgraded example of one of Britain’s most enduring off-road icons.
