A 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe that was extensively modified by Singer Vehicle Design in 2019 is being offered for sale in California at no reserve. The car, known as the «Golden» commission, represents one of the most celebrated reimaginings of the 964-generation 911 and is expected to attract significant attention from collectors of modern-classic performance cars.

The vehicle is finished in Rome Red with ghosted Porsche script on the decklid and sides, and its carbon-fibre body panels include the fenders, bumpers, front hood, and rear decklid. A carbon-fibre roof panel replaces the standard steel item, as the car was specified without a sunroof. External details include a retractable rear spoiler, bullet-style side mirrors, nickel-plated 911 badging, and Hella bi-xenon headlights with polycarbonate lenses. Paint protection film was applied to the body in July 2024.

Power comes from an air-cooled, naturally aspirated flat-six that was overhauled to displace 4.0 litres. It is equipped with revised camshafts, a MoTeC ECU, and a Singer intake plenum over individual throttle bodies. A set of velocity stacks is included in the sale. Following a rear-end collision in June 2022, the engine was refreshed by Ed Pink Racing Engines with a replacement timing chain cover, piston rings, main and rod bearings, gaskets, intermediate shaft bearings, and spark plugs. A replacement battery was installed in 2025.

Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a G50/21S six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential and European-specification gear ratios. The transaxle nose cover and third gear synchro were replaced after the 2022 collision. Exhaust gases flow through black ceramic-coated piping with high-flow catalytic converters, tubular headers, and a stainless-steel muffler with twin centre-exit outlets.

The car rides on Öhlins two-way adjustable dampers and a 993-sourced steering rack-and-pinion. Forged 17-inch Fuchs-style wheels are secured with open-ended lug nuts and wrapped in 225/45 front and 265/40 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. Braking is handled by a Brembo system derived from the Porsche 993 Turbo, featuring cross-drilled rotors and red calipers with white Porsche lettering.

Inside, the cabin is upholstered in Cognac Tan and black leather. The Recaro bucket seats have power height adjustments, and colour-matching woven trim extends to the dashboard insert, door panels, and rear cabin area. The car was optioned without rear seat backs. Additional equipment includes power windows, air conditioning, a nickel-plated dash badge, drilled footboards, auxiliary and USB ports, and a Porsche Classic head unit with navigation. The MOMO Prototipo steering wheel is wrapped in black leather with red stitching and fronts a central 11,000-rpm tachometer with a Rome Red dial, a 190-mph speedometer, an analogue clock, and gauges for oil level, oil pressure, oil temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 4,800 miles since completion of the build.

The car was involved in a rear-end collision in June 2022, and subsequent repairs performed by Singer included replacing the rear bumper, roof panel, quarter panels, taillights, and decklid. A Carfax report for an incorrect VIN listed on the Singer build sheet notes a salvage title was issued following accident damage to the rear at that time. The owner states the salvage issuance was errantly reported with the incorrect VIN rather than the correct sequence for this vehicle. Photos of the damage and images taken during the subsequent repair are provided in the gallery, along with a photo of the redacted Montana title. The Carfax report also notes a Not Actual Mileage title issued in April 2001 and a mileage inconsistency listed in July 2020.

Los Angeles-based Singer Vehicle Design was founded in 2009 by former Catherine Wheel frontman Rob Dickinson and has since specialised in performance-based customisations of 964-series 911s. Each car is stripped to its steel unibody, which receives welding reinforcements before being fitted with carbon-fibre panels. Non-sunroof coupes, such as this example, are also fitted with a carbon-fibre roof panel. The front spoiler, lower rear valance, and lower rocker panels are composed of black urethane.

The vehicle has not been inspected by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair or Air Resources Board, and it has not passed a California emissions test. It is offered on consignment by a selling dealer at no reserve, with a set of velocity stacks and a Montana title.
