A refurbished 1986 Acura Legend sedan is being offered at no reserve on Bring a Trailer, with the winning bid, including the platform's buyer's fee, going to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. The car was acquired by its current seller in 2023 and has since been restored over a multi-year project that began in late 2023.
The refurbishment included repainting the body in Ascot Gray Metallic with charcoal trim, converting the air conditioning system to use R134a refrigerant, and powder coating the 15-inch light alloy wheels in silver. Mechanical work covered the ignition system for the 2.5-liter V6, along with a replacement timing belt, water pump, thermostat, valve cover gaskets, CV axles and clutch cylinders. The car was also displayed by several Arizona-based Acura dealerships in 2026 to mark the brand's 40th anniversary.
The Legend shows 103,000 miles on its odometer, about 4,000 of which were added under the current owner. Its equipment includes a sunroof, four-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, power windows and Sand Gray cloth seating. The seller acknowledges some issues: the power antenna works only intermittently, corrosion is present on the leading edge of the rear wheel wells, the rear speakers rattle, the door locks do not always function properly, and the fuel gauge does not read full. The seller also reports an intermittent stumble under acceleration when cold, as well as oil leaks.
Under the bonnet, the 2.5-liter C25A V6 uses electronic fuel injection, a single overhead camshaft per cylinder bank and four valves per cylinder. When new it produced 151 horsepower and 154 lb-ft of torque. Power reaches the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. The car rides on independent front and rear suspension, with speed-sensitive power steering and Hankook Kinergy GT tyres.
The sale includes a reproduction window sticker, owner's manuals, a binder of records, spare parts and photographs documenting the refurbishment. The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage, and the Arizona title is clean and in the seller's name. The window sticker records initial delivery to Manly Acura of Santa Cruz in California and a total price of $19,298.
The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit whose stated mission is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by them. The seller has committed the proceeds from the auction to the charity.
