Lexus has given the first official look at the updated NX crossover, confirming that the facelifted model will break cover globally on September 1. The Japanese automaker posted short teaser clips on social media showing a vehicle that appears to be the refreshed NX, with subtle exterior changes and a reworked interior.
The teaser footage hints at a new pair of headlights featuring two lines of horizontal LEDs, likely part of a restyled front end with an RX-style spindle grille and sporty bumper intakes. The profile remains largely unchanged, though the car is shown in a new green shade with dark multi-spoke alloy wheels. Lexus has not yet revealed the rear end, but fresh LED graphics for the taillights and a tweaked bumper are expected.
Inside, the NX gains a modern steering wheel borrowed from the ES sedan, complete with Lexus lettering and new buttons. The dashboard has been overhauled with a cleaner design for the climate vents and controls, positioned under the large infotainment screen. The display could retain the same size as the optional 14-inch touchscreen of the outgoing model, albeit with an enhanced interface. The teaser also shows front seats upholstered in red leather with chevron-pattern stitching.
The NX, introduced in late 2014 with a second generation following in mid-2021, is based on the TNGA-K architecture. It is currently offered with turbo gasoline, self-charging hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Lexus has not confirmed any mechanical upgrades, but it is likely all three options will carry over into the facelifted version.
The NX is Lexus’s second best-selling model in North America and globally, trailing only the larger RX. It competes against the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, and Volvo XC60, as well as the upcoming Acura RDX. The official teasers follow earlier sightings of camouflaged prototypes during development testing, and full details are expected to be announced on September 1.
