A red 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa with a G50 five-speed manual and 81,000 miles is offered with service records, a clean Carfax, and recent engine and gearbox work.

A 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa finished in red over a Linen interior has been listed for sale, presenting a well-documented example of the classic air-cooled sports car. The car is powered by a 3.2-litre flat-six engine paired with a G50 five-speed manual transaxle, a combination prized by enthusiasts for its durability and driving feel. It shows 81,000 miles on the odometer, approximately 5,000 of which have been added under current ownership.
The Targa was sold on Bring a Trailer in July 2018 and later acquired by the seller through the same platform in June 2022. Since then, the car has received substantial mechanical and cosmetic attention. The engine and gearbox were resealed, the targa roof panel was refurbished, and interior repairs were carried out. The car is now offered with service records, a clean Carfax report, and a Virginia title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in Carmine Red, the car is said to have been repainted under previous ownership. Exterior features include a black removable targa roof panel, integrated fog lights, and heated power-adjustable side mirrors. Under current ownership, the targa roof panel was retrimmed, the windshield and various seals were replaced, and a paint correction was performed before a ceramic coating was applied in 2025. Fading is noted on the decklid.
The 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels are mounted with Pirelli tyres, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs. The steering column bushing was replaced in 2022, front struts and rear shocks were replaced in 2023, and the brake fluid was flushed in February 2026. A replacement parcel shelf and door panels were fitted, and the front seats were re-dyed. A Blaupunkt Bremen SQR46 stereo and four Infinity speakers were installed, while the alarm was disabled and the cruise control unit replaced. The air conditioning system was recharged in February 2026.
Inside, a four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation, including a central tachometer with a 6,300-rpm redline, a 170-mph speedometer, a Quarz clock, and gauges for oil level, oil pressure, oil temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 81,000 miles.
The 3.2-litre M930/25 flat-six features Bosch Motronic engine management and was factory rated at 217 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through the G50 five-speed manual transaxle. The gearbox was resealed in July 2022, and the engine was removed and resealed in January 2023. A valve adjustment was performed in June 2025, and a Dansk Sport muffler was installed in February 2026.
Additional components replaced under current ownership include the blower condenser fan, rear defroster relay, clutch slave cylinder, oil tank sender, alternator belt, drive belt, starter, and battery. The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage, and the Virginia title carries an “Actual” odometer brand.
