European-Market 1986 Ferrari Testarossa Heads to Auction After $74k Engine Rebuild
A European-market 1986 Ferrari Testarossa, sold new in Italy and imported to the US in 2022, is offered in Canada with 37k kilometres and over $74,000 of recent mechanical work including an engine rebuild.

A European-market 1986 Ferrari Testarossa, said to have been sold new in Italy and imported to the United States in 2022, is being offered for sale in Canada by a Florida retail dealer acting on behalf of its current owner. The car, finished in Rosso Corsa over Crema Connolly leather, shows 37,000 kilometres — roughly 23,000 miles — on its six-digit odometer and comes with a Carfax report and Ontario registration.
At the heart of the Testarossa is a 4.9-litre flat-12 engine, factory rated at 380 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Records indicate that more than $74,000 of work was carried out in 2023, including rebuilding the engine, replacing the timing belt and clutch, servicing the gearbox, and overhauling the fuel, cooling and ignition systems. The braking system was also overhauled that year.
The Pininfarina-designed body features the model’s signature single left A-pillar-mounted monospecchio «flying mirror», pop-up headlights, fog lights, an asymmetrical cooling duct beneath the left fog lamp, side intake strakes, black-finished rocker panels and quad exhaust outlets. It rides on silver 415mm Cromodora five-spoke alloy wheels mounted with Michelin tyres, while braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs.
Inside, the cockpit is trimmed in Crema Connolly leather across the seats, door panels and lower dashboard. Equipment includes a gated shifter, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, power windows and a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel. Veglia instrumentation takes in a 320 km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature, with a clock and auxiliary gauges for fuel level and oil temperature housed in the centre stack.
The Testarossa remains one of the defining grand tourers of the 1980s, its wide stance and straked sides making it an enduring symbol of Italian automotive design. European-market examples are particularly sought after by collectors for their specification and provenance, and this car’s documented Italian delivery, recent mechanical restoration and relatively low mileage place it firmly in that territory. The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage, and the vehicle is being sold on its Ontario registration, which serves as the ownership document in Ontario, Canada.
