A 1994 Ferrari 348 Spider with just 31,000 miles, sold new to its current owner, is being offered at auction. The car is a rare survivor of the final V8-powered Ferrari developed under Enzo Ferrari's direction, and its sale puts a well-kept example of the model in the spotlight.
The car was purchased new from Steven Kessler Motor Cars in New York, New York, and the odometer shows 31,000 miles, all of which the seller says were added during ownership. It is finished in Rosso Corsa over beige Connolly leather and comes with a black convertible soft top, 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, pop-up headlights, fog lights, side air intakes, louvered taillights and quad exhaust tips. The seller notes a hole in the left side of the soft top, and the tires carry 2022 date codes.
Under the bodywork sits a 3.4-litre quad-cam Tipo F119 V8 with Bosch Motronic engine management, factory-rated at 312 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque. In 2019 the engine underwent an engine-out timing belt service, during which the drive belts, spark plugs, water pump, thermostat, coolant hoses and engine lid struts were replaced. Power goes to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The clutch was replaced in 2019, and an F355-specification clutch slave cylinder was fitted at the same time.
The cabin is trimmed in beige Connolly leather, matching the dashboard, centre console and door panels. Equipment includes a dogleg-pattern gated shifter, air conditioning, a Sony CD stereo and power windows and door locks. The seller acknowledges that the left window intermittently hesitates when rolling up or down and that some buttons are sticky. The instrumentation, made by Veglia Borletti, includes a speedometer reading to 200 mph and a tachometer with a 7,500-rpm redline, with gauges for coolant temperature and oil pressure in the main binnacle and oil temperature and fuel level in the centre stack.
Stopping power comes from Ferrari-branded calipers over ventilated discs with anti-lock braking. A ding is noted on one wheel. The car is offered with its window sticker, owner's manual, service records, a car cover, a clean Carfax report and a clean New York title in the seller's name. The sticker records initial delivery to Steven Kessler Motor Cars and a total suggested retail price of $121,900. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other reported damage.
The 348 was the last V8-powered Ferrari developed under the direction of Enzo Ferrari, and its styling was overseen by Pininfarina chief stylist Leonardo Fioravanti. Close-up photographs of the exterior finish and trim are provided in the auction gallery.
