Rare 1972 Lancia 2000 HF Coupe Heads to Auction
A 1972 Lancia 2000 HF coupe, one of a claimed 1,229 built between 1971 and 1973, is offered at no reserve by Mohr Imports with ASI certification and Concorso Italiano provenance.

A rare 1972 Lancia 2000 HF coupe, one of a claimed 1,229 examples produced between 1971 and 1973, is being offered for sale on dealer consignment by Mohr Imports at no reserve. The car, chassis 001211, was exported from Italy to the United States in 2020 and has since been displayed at the 2025 Concorso Italiano in Seaside, California.
Finished in bronze metallic, the coupe is powered by a 2.0-litre flat-four engine equipped with Bosch D-type electronic fuel injection in HF specification, mated to a five-speed manual transaxle with a dogleg first gear. Power is sent to the front wheels. The car rides on silver-finished 14-inch Cromodora wheels mounted with Kumho Solus TA11 tyres and features four-wheel disc brakes and power-assisted steering.
The Lancia 2000 was a modified version of the preceding Series II Flavia coupe, with bodywork designed and manufactured by Pininfarina. This example features a driver-side mirror, Carello inner headlamps, and wrap-around chrome bumpers with turn signals integrated into the front. The selling dealer notes evidence that the car has been repainted, and paint-meter readings are available for inspection.
Service completed in 2021 involved overhauling the brake and fuel systems. The front and rear calipers were rebuilt, and the brake master cylinder, front rotors, front and rear pads, and a number of lines and hoses were replaced. The fuel injectors were cleaned, the fuel tank was repaired, and the fuel pump, pressure regulator, sending unit, and filter were replaced. A number of coolant hoses were also renewed at that time, along with the coolant-temperature sensor, radiator cap, and heater control valve. The CV boots and exhaust hangers were replaced in the same year, and the tyres were mounted in 2021.
Inside, the cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in tan cloth, accompanied by colour-coordinated door panels. Woodgrain trim adorns the dashboard and door caps, while burgundy carpets cover the floors. Shoulder belts are fitted for front occupants, and appointments include a heater and defroster, a Jaeger analogue clock, and an Autovox cassette stereo. The wood-rimmed steering wheel was repaired and refinished in 2021, and cracks along the rim are visible in close-up photographs.
Veglia Borletti instrumentation includes a 220 km/h speedometer, a 7,000 rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges monitoring coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 5,400 kilometres, approximately 1,000 of which were added under current ownership. The selling dealer states that true mileage is unknown.
The suspension comprises dual A-arms coupled with a transverse leaf spring up front, and a dead-beam axle with a Panhard bar and semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear. The car is accompanied by manufacturer's literature, service records, an Automotoclub Storico Italiano certificate of identification, and a California title. ASI badge number 33390 also accompanies the vehicle.
The car does not meet EPA emissions requirements for cars built between 1968 and 1975. The California title lists the vehicle's make as Lincoln, an administrative detail that does not reflect the car's Lancia identity. The current owner purchased the car in 2024 and subsequently displayed it at Concorso Italiano, one of the premier Italian automotive gatherings in North America.
With its Pininfarina-designed bodywork, HF-specific fuel injection, and documented history, the Lancia 2000 HF coupe represents a distinctive chapter in Italian grand touring car design. The no-reserve auction format means the car will sell to the highest bidder regardless of price, a prospect likely to attract collectors of rare Italian machinery.
