Restored 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I Coupe Heads to Auction in Texas
A 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe, restored over six years and fitted with a five-speed manual, is offered in Texas with over $180,000 in service receipts and a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

A restored 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe, repainted in Opalescent Dark Blue over red leather and upgraded with a five-speed manual transmission, is being offered for sale in Texas. The car was purchased by its current owner in 2011 and underwent a comprehensive restoration between 2011 and 2017, with more than $180,000 in service receipts documenting the work.
The E-Type left the factory finished in Willow Green, according to the Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate, which also confirms the original colours and drivetrain numbers. In 2013, Hi-Speed Rods & Customs repainted the body in Opalescent Dark Blue following rust repairs and bodywork. The refurbishment included replacing the windshield and re-plating and powder-coating the hardware. Series I cars are distinguished by covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers, and this example retains its louvered clamshell hood, bright trim, driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, side-hinged rear hatch and dual exhaust outlets.
Power comes from a 4.2-litre inline-six with triple SU carburettors and a replacement cylinder head. The engine was rebuilt in 2015, a process that included balancing the rotating assembly and polishing the cylinder head. The carburettors were rebuilt and tuned, while the fuel tank, fuel pump, lines, starter and wiring harness were replaced. Modifications include an aluminium radiator, an electric cooling fan with a custom shroud, an electronic ignition system and a performance exhaust header. The oil was changed, the coolant flushed and the spark plugs replaced in preparation for the sale.
Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission was installed in 2017 along with a lightweight billet aluminium flywheel, and the clutch was replaced the same year. A polished stainless steel exhaust system is also fitted. The suspension was overhauled in 2017 with adjustable GAZ shocks, polyurethane bushings and adjusted torsion bars, while the ball joints and upper and lower control arms were replaced. The steering rack was rebuilt in June 2017.
Braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. During the restoration the braking system was overhauled with a rebuilt servo and master cylinders, and the hard lines and reservoirs were replaced. The brake fluid was flushed before the sale. The 15-inch wire-spoke wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/75 B.F. Goodrich Silvertown Radial redline tyres.
Originally trimmed in beige, the cabin was reupholstered in red leather between 2015 and 2017. The headliner and dash pad were replaced, and interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, seatbelts and a heater. A wood-rimmed steering wheel was installed in 2017, framing a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a 6,000-rpm tachometer that were rebuilt the same year. Auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level and amperage sit in the centre of the dashboard.
The five-digit odometer shows 75,000 miles, approximately 1,000 of which were added under current ownership. The seller notes that the speedometer and odometer are currently inoperable, and total mileage is unknown. The car is offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, an owner’s manual, restoration photos, porcelain-coated exhaust manifolds, a car cover, a jack, a Talbot Yorck side-view mirror and an Arizona title in the seller’s name. The title displays the VIN as J671E33975, which prepends “J67” to the chassis number shown on the vehicle.
