1970 Citroën DS21 Pallas heads to auction in Virginia
A European-market 1970 Citroën DS21 Pallas with electronic fuel injection, refurbished in the Netherlands and imported to the US in 2024, is being offered for sale in Virginia.

A European-market 1970 Citroën DS21 Pallas, fitted with the marque’s pioneering electronic fuel injection, is being offered for sale in Virginia. The silver sedan was first registered in the Netherlands, where it underwent a refurbishment around two decades ago by Bart Holland Oldtimer Restoration. The current seller acquired the car in 2023, and it was imported to the United States the following year.
The DS21 is one of the most recognisable models in automotive history, celebrated for its aerodynamic body and advanced hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension. This example is specified with the Pallas trim package, which adds brightwork and interior upgrades over the standard model. It also features directional headlights, power steering, dynamic brakes and a four-speed semi-automatic transaxle operated by a lever mounted atop the steering column. The braking system is actuated by a floor-mounted “mushroom” button that proportions stopping power between inboard-mounted front discs and rear drums.
Under the bonnet sits a 2,175cc inline-four engine equipped with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection, a system first offered for the 1970 model year. The engine was factory rated at 115 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque. The car rides on 15-inch steel wheels trimmed with stainless-steel covers and fitted with Michelin tyres that are wider at the front.
The cabin is finished in red with velour upholstery, padded carpets, pleated white door caps and stainless-steel sill plates. Equipment includes inertia-reel front seatbelts, a dual-band radio, blinds for the rear window and air conditioning, which was installed in 2025. The single-spoke steering wheel frames a 200-km/h speedometer, and the five-digit odometer shows approximately 32,000 kilometres, or about 20,000 miles, with roughly 300 of those added by the seller.
The body’s silver finish is accented by Pallas-specification brightwork, and the front bumper was modified with cutouts when the air conditioning was fitted. Replacement bump stops, boots and other services for the height-adjustable suspension are itemised in an August 2026 record shared in the sale gallery. Additional photographs taken during the refurbishment work are also included, along with images of an owner’s manual and records that accompany the car.
The DS21 is offered with a South Carolina title in the seller’s name, which carries an odometer entry of 0 and an “Exempt” vehicle brand. The suspension and brakes were serviced in preparation for the sale.
