A 1983 Ferrari 400i, finished in Nero over beige leather and showing 20,000 miles on its odometer, is being offered on dealer consignment in Connecticut. The grand tourer, a 2+2 built during the marque's 1970s run of front-engined V12 road cars, was imported into the United States in August 1983 and was acquired by its current owner through Bring a Trailer in September 2023.

The 400i is powered by a 4.8-liter DOHC V12, the F101 Colombo quad-cam engine that Ferrari factory-rated at 310 horsepower. It is fitted with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, MSD ignition and an aftermarket stainless steel exhaust system, and drives the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Under the current ownership, the rear suspension was serviced, and the alternators and accessory drive belts were replaced in 2025. The selling dealer notes an exhaust leak, and the results of a recent compression test are included in the listing gallery.

The car's lineage traces back to the 365 GT4 2+2, unveiled at the 1972 Paris Motor Show as the successor to the 365 GTC/4. Its bodywork was designed by Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina. The model was built through 1976, when it was replaced by the updated 400 series. Ferrari did not officially sell these cars in the United States, but some examples were imported and federalized in period through the gray market, a route this car appears to have taken.

Exterior details include fog lights, pop-up quad headlights, hood louvers, power-adjustable side mirrors, quad circular taillights and quad exhaust outlets with polished slash-cut finishers. The car rides on silver-finished 415mm metric alloy wheels shod with Michelin TRX tires, and all four wheels are fitted with disc brakes.

Inside, the 2+2 cabin has front bucket seats and individual rear seats trimmed in beige Connolly leather. Equipment includes air conditioning, polished sill plates, power windows and a Blaupunkt CD stereo. Two control levers on the center console are inoperative. The leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel frames Veglia instrumentation, including a 180-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, alongside gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. An analog clock and auxiliary gauges for voltage and oil temperature sit in the center stack.

The listing includes a tool kit, recent service records, a clean Carfax report showing no accidents or other reported damage, and a clean Colorado title. For buyers weighing a 1970s Ferrari grand tourer against its maintenance demands, the documented service history and the recent work on the drivetrain accessories are the principal points the seller highlights.
