A 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata M Edition with 26,000 miles is heading to auction at no reserve, offering enthusiasts a chance to buy one of the limited special editions of the first-generation roadster. The car is being sold through Gasoline Alley Garage, a Bring a Trailer Local Partner, and will go to the highest bidder regardless of the final price.

The M Edition was produced in 3,000 examples for the 1994 model year, and every one of them was finished in Montego Blue Mica with tan leather upholstery. This example was first sold in California and has been registered in the state since the current owner acquired it in 2009. The seller describes it as a North American-specification NA Miata, the generation that Mazda sold between 1989 and 1997 in the United States and other markets.

Power comes from a 1.8-litre DOHC inline-four engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and a Torsen limited-slip differential, which sends drive to the rear wheels. The car has been modified with a cold air intake, a Racing Beat cat-back exhaust, aftermarket sway bars, NB rear shock mounts and KYB GR-2 dampers. The most recent timing belt service was carried out in 2015, when the water pump, crankshaft seals, camshaft seals and valve cover gasket were also replaced. The car most recently passed a California emissions test in June 2025.

Exterior changes include a front lip spoiler, an aftermarket grille insert, fog lights, a decklid spoiler, polished dual exhaust outlets and front and rear splash guards. The chrome-finished 15-inch MB Motoring alloy wheels are shod with Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 tyres manufactured in 2025. The seller notes that paint blemishes are shown in the photo gallery. The car has a tan soft top, pop-up headlights and a power-retractable antenna.

Inside, the bucket seats are trimmed in tan leather and fitted with aftermarket speakers in the headrests. Equipment includes air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, polished sill plates, a cup holder and a cassette stereo. The rosewood-trimmed airbag steering wheel sits in front of a 140-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature and fuel level. An air horn is also installed. Standard features include antilock disc brakes on all four wheels and power steering.

The six-digit odometer reads 26,000 miles, of which roughly 4,000 were added under the current owner. The sale includes spare factory wheels, removed parts, a tonneau cover, an owner’s manual and service records. The Carfax report is clean and free of accidents or other reported damage, and the California title is clean and in the owner’s name.

The MX-5 has long been prized for its lightweight, rear-drive layout and driver-focused handling, qualities that have kept early examples in demand among collectors. As a limited-run variant of the NA generation, the 1994 M Edition offers a combination of standard equipment and styling distinctions that set it apart from ordinary Miatas, and the 26,000-mile figure and documented service history are likely to attract close attention from prospective bidders.
