A former Bundeswehr 250GD Wolf, imported to the US in 2016 and recently refurbished, is offered by a dealer in Illinois after roughly $12,000 of work, with 95,000 kilometres on the odometer.

A 1990 Mercedes-Benz 250GD Wolf, a former Bundeswehr military vehicle, is being offered for sale by a dealer in Illinois after a series of mechanical and cosmetic updates. The W461 model, finished in satin green, shows 95,000 kilometres (about 60,000 miles) and is presented with removed parts, a clean Carfax report and a New York title.
The truck was imported to the United States in 2016 and refinished in green before being sold through the Bring a Trailer auction platform in May 2017. The selling dealer acquired it again in April 2025, after which about $12,000 of work was carried out. That work included fabricating a replacement soft top and frame, replacing the batteries, shut-off valve, intake manifold gasket, V-belt, front brake hardware, tie-rod ends and front drag link, and fitting 18-inch five-spoke wheels reportedly sourced from a Mercedes G-Class. A replacement black soft top and frame were fabricated and installed in 2026.
Power comes from a 2.5-litre OM602 diesel inline-five, factory rated at 84 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a four-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case and front and rear locking differentials, with power sent to the rear or all four wheels. Work on the engine in 2026 included replacing the air filter and fuel filter and changing the oil and filter. An October 2025 inspection by Mercedes-Benz of Naperville, Illinois, is documented in the gallery accompanying the listing.
Chassis and braking work has been extensive. Between May and November 2025 the steering damper, rear wheel cylinders, tie-rod ends, front drag link, and front brake pads, rotors and wear sensors were replaced, and the brakes were bled. The truck has power steering, Bilstein shocks and power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes. Continental 4×4 Contact tires were mounted on the new wheels in July 2025, and a refurbished matching spare on a swing-out carrier at the rear was installed in 2026.
The cabin is fitted with Recaro front and rear bucket seats in black leather with cloth inserts, fabricated rear seat mounting brackets, a rear roll bar, a heater, a Blaupunkt CD stereo and wood planking in the rear cargo area. An AMG steering wheel frames the instrumentation, which includes a 180 km/h speedometer, an inoperative Bosch tachometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The seller notes several faults: the speaker sound quality is low, the map light does not work, the driver-side window does not close fully, the seats show wear, and the fuel level needle fluctuates while driving. Under current ownership the ignition lock cylinder, tumbler and sleeve were replaced along with the wiper stalk.
Exterior features include an intake snorkel, fender-mounted front turn signals, rubber side mouldings, LED driving lights, diamond-plate front fender trim and a rear jerry can holder. A shovel is mounted to the firewall. The headlight wiring was repaired in September 2025. Corrosion is visible on underbody components, and imperfections are shown in the gallery. The Carfax report records no accidents or other damage, and the New York title carries the notations “Exempt” and “Vehicle over 10 years old” under the odometer reading heading. Service records will accompany the truck, along with the removed components.
