A 2000 BMW M5 in Imola Red, one of the sharper sporting saloons of its era, is being offered for sale after a multi-year refurbishment that has left it with 84,000 miles on the odometer. The car is powered by a 4.9-litre S62 V8 mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential, and it comes with a window sticker, an owner's manual, service records, a clean Carfax report and a clean Texas title in the seller's name.

The car was purchased new by the seller, who has carried out an extensive programme of work. The bumper covers have been replaced and the body refinished under current ownership in Imola Red, paint code 405. Exterior equipment includes xenon headlights with washers, fog lights, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, a glass sunroof, a boot-lid spoiler and quad exhaust outlets. The hood and boot struts were recently replaced. The 18-inch Style 65 wheels were re-powdercoated before being fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres manufactured in 2021 and 2022.

Under the skin, the seller lists a set of mechanical renewals. These include Bilstein front dampers, front wheel speed sensors, rear wheel bearings, brake hoses, brake rotors and pads, and various suspension bushings. The car is fitted with Dynamic Stability Control with All Season Traction, and braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs measuring 13.6 inches at the front and 12.9 inches at the rear.

The engine, a 4.9-litre S62 V8 factory-rated at 394 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, features individual throttle bodies and double-VANOS continuously variable valve timing. According to the seller, recent work has included a new timing chain and guides, engine mounts, oil pan gaskets, a fuel level sender and fuel pump, a fuel pressure regulator, valve cover gaskets, accessory drive belts and tensioners, and a battery. Power reaches the rear wheels through a Getrag six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The driveshaft assembly and the transmission and differential mounts have also been replaced.

Inside, the heated and power-adjustable front sport seats and contoured rear bench are trimmed in Black and Imola Red Nappa Point leather. Brushed metal trim accents the dashboard, centre console and door panels. Additional equipment includes driver position memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation and a CD stereo linked to a six-disc changer in the boot. The seller says the rear-view mirror and all four window regulators were recently replaced. The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel frames an M-branded speedometer reading to 185 mph and a tachometer with a variable redline, alongside gauges for coolant temperature, oil temperature and fuel level. The instrument cluster was repaired under current ownership.

The car was initially delivered to Advantage BMW in Houston, Texas. The window sticker lists the factory colours, standard equipment and a total suggested retail price of $72,070. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other reported damage. For buyers considering a sporting E39 with a documented history of renewal work, the listing offers a detailed account of the car's condition, though the seller's account of the refurbishment is not independently verified in the listing material.
