A 1968 Ford Mustang fastback that began life as a Brittany Blue 289 is being offered for sale in a heavily modified state, following a rebuild that centres on a custom-built 428ci V8 and a Tremec five-speed manual gearbox. The car was repainted Highland Green and fitted with a 390ci V8 and a four-speed manual at some point before the current seller acquired it in 2023.

Since then, the owner has carried out a mechanical and drivetrain rebuild valued at roughly $180,000, while keeping the body and interior as acquired. The engine was built in 2024 by Kotzu Racing in San Antonio, Texas, starting from an FE 390ci V8 and enlarged to approximately 428ci. Its specification includes 4.130-inch Icon forged pistons, an Eagle 3.980-inch crankshaft, Eagle H-beam connecting rods, Harland Sharp roller rockers, a Comp Cams hydraulic roller camshaft and an Edelbrock intake manifold. Ceramic-coated headers, a Holley EFI system and a tune by Biddle Motorsports complete the powertrain.

Power reaches the rear wheels through the Tremec five-speed and a Ford 9-inch Positraction rear axle with 3.70:1 gearing. The chassis has been substantially reworked, with a shock-tower-delete front suspension, RideTech coilovers, a four-link rear end, front and rear sway bars and TCP power rack-and-pinion steering. Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes with Forged Dynalite Pro Series calipers, a Scott Drake electric brake booster and a four-point roll bar are also fitted, and staggered BFGoodrich tyres sit on 15-inch American Racing wheels.

Inside, the car has a Vintage Air Gen IV air-conditioning system, a retro-style stereo, a console and Dynamat sound and heat insulation beneath original-style carpet. The wiring was completely replaced during the build, and a Holley display screen sits over the dashboard. A 14-inch dished Cobra-style steering wheel faces a 120-mph speedometer, an analogue clock and auxiliary gauges for fuel, oil pressure, coolant temperature and amperage. Holley LED lighting was installed throughout in July 2024.

The odometer shows approximately 61,000 miles, with around 1,000 miles added under the current owner. The seller notes that the speedometer and an aftermarket oil-pressure gauge require attention. The car is offered with a Deluxe Marti Report, which lists a build date of 1 January 1968, along with records and an Arizona title in the seller's name. The title describes it as a two-door hardtop with an odometer reading of 60,429 miles.
