A 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe, restored over six years and fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox, is offered for sale in Texas with over $180,000 in service receipts and a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

A restored 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe is being offered for sale in Texas, bringing to market one of the most celebrated British sports cars of the postwar era. The car was acquired by its current owner in 2011 and underwent a comprehensive restoration between 2011 and 2017, with more than $180,000 in service receipts documenting the work.
The E-Type, known in North America as the XKE, remains a benchmark of automotive design and engineering. The Series I examples are distinguished by their covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers, details that were altered on later versions. This particular car left the factory in Willow Green but was repainted in Opalescent Dark Blue in 2013 by Hi-Speed Rods & Customs, following rust repairs and bodywork. The windshield was replaced during the refurbishment, and the exterior hardware was re-plated and powder-coated.
Under the louvered clamshell hood sits a 4.2-litre inline-six, rebuilt in 2015 with a replacement cylinder head, triple SU carburettors, and a balanced rotating assembly. The carburettors were rebuilt and tuned, while the fuel tank, fuel pump, lines, starter, and wiring harness were all replaced. Modifications include an aluminium radiator, an electric cooling fan with a custom shroud, an electronic ignition system, and a performance exhaust header. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission installed in 2017, paired with a lightweight billet aluminium flywheel and a limited-slip differential. The clutch was also replaced that year.
The suspension was overhauled in 2017 with adjustable GAZ shock absorbers, polyurethane bushes, and adjusted torsion bars. Ball joints and upper and lower control arms were replaced, and the steering rack was rebuilt in June 2017. Braking comes from power-assisted four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors; the system was overhauled with a rebuilt servo and master cylinders, and the hard lines and reservoirs were replaced. The brake fluid was flushed ahead of the sale. The car rides on 15-inch wire-spoke wheels secured by two-eared knock-offs and fitted with 205/75 B.F. Goodrich Silvertown Radial redline tyres.
Inside, the cabin was originally beige but was reupholstered in red leather between 2015 and 2017. The headliner and dashboard pad were replaced, and the wood-rimmed steering wheel was installed in 2017. It frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a 6,000-rpm tachometer, both rebuilt the same year. Auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage sit in the centre of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 75,000 miles, approximately 1,000 of which were added under current ownership, though the seller notes that the speedometer and odometer are currently inoperable and total mileage is unknown.
The sale includes a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate confirming the original colours and drivetrain numbers, along with build and dispatch dates. An owner's manual, restoration photographs, porcelain-coated exhaust manifolds, a car cover, a jack, and a Talbot Yorck side-view mirror are also included. The car carries an Arizona title in the seller's name, with the VIN listed as J671E33975.
Series I E-Types occupy a special place among collectors, prized for their combination of straight-six performance, independent suspension, and styling that influenced generations of sports cars. Examples with documented restorations and extensive receipts tend to attract strong interest when they reach the market, particularly when factory records corroborate the original specification.
