A 1973 BMW 2002tii that underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2007 is now offered for sale in New Hampshire, with its owner pointing to a full paper trail of work completed on the car over the years. The compact sedan was refinished in Inka, a colour it wore after leaving its original Verona finish, and the seller says the car has been back in the United States since 2026 after a period in Canada.

The car was first delivered to Hoffman Motors Corporation of New York. In 2007 it was taken on by ACT 1 Restorations of Calimesa, California, which repainted the body, reupholstered the interior and door panels in black vinyl, and serviced the suspension and brakes. The workshop also overhauled the Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection pump, fitted a Pertronix electronic ignition system and rebuilt the replacement 2.0-litre M10 inline-four. The engine work included a machined crankshaft, high-compression pistons and a resurfaced cylinder head, along with a replacement timing chain, oil pump, bearings, seals and freeze plugs.

Beyond the engine, the refurbishment covered a long list of components. The car rides on silver-finished 13-inch FPS-style alloy wheels fitted with Dunlop tyres circa 2007, and it is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission, a sunroof, round taillights and re-plated chrome bumpers with overriders. Its suspension received Bilstein dampers, a replacement centre link, tie rods, control arms and bushings, and the braking system was serviced with new hoses, pads, drums, shoes and rear wheel cylinders. The fuel tank, radiator, heater box and heater valve were overhauled, and the clutch, driveshaft centre mount and giubo were replaced. The seller also notes an undercoating applied to the underside around 2007.

Inside, the front bucket seats and rear bench were reupholstered in black vinyl, matching the refreshed door panels. The dashboard was vacuum-formed, and the headliner, package tray and carpeting were replaced. A push-button AM/FM radio sits ahead of the shifter, while the three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline. Fuel level and coolant temperature gauges are fitted, and three VDO auxiliary gauges are housed in the centre stack.

The five-digit odometer reads 8,000 miles, of which roughly 70 were added under the current ownership. The car is offered with a BMW Group Archives certificate, the signed 2007 restoration agreement from ACT 1 Restorations, service and parts receipts, historical registration documents and a clean Massachusetts title in the seller’s name. The seller says the receipts for parts and service total more than $47,000. Some corrosion is visible on various underbody surfaces, which the seller documents in the photo gallery.

Period markings add to the car’s originality. BMW and Sekurit markings are visible on the rear and side windows, while the windshield is a Pilkington-branded replacement. The car was originally specified with front and rear anti-roll bars, which were retained in the restoration.
