A restored 1967 Austin Mini Cooper S, first sold in the United States, has been offered for sale with factory records and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate confirming its history.

A 1967 Austin Mini Cooper S, a left-hand-drive example first sold in the United States, is being offered for sale after a full restoration that included stripping the car to bare metal and repainting it in green with a white roof and hood stripes. The Mk I Cooper S left the factory in Old English White with a black roof, and the current finish is a departure from its original appearance.
The car is powered by a 1,275cc A-series inline-four linked to a four-speed manual transaxle, which drives the front wheels. The engine was factory fitted with dual SU carburetors and underwent an engine-out reseal in 2016. It also has a Lucas ignition coil, a Pertronix Flame Thrower distributor and an Edelbrock fuel pump. The radiator has been replaced, the radiator hoses and fuel lines were renewed in 2023, the thermostat and water pump were replaced in 2024, and the battery was changed and the oil renewed in 2025. Dual fuel tanks are installed in the trunk.
Chassis and braking upgrades include power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums, with the rear drums replaced in April 2025. The suspension has rebuilt upper and lower swivel pins, poly bushings, KYB adjustable shocks and Mini Sport adjustable tie rods. The black 10-inch Rose Petal wheels with silver-finished rims were mounted with Dunlop SP Sport R7 tyres in 2023, and the windscreen was replaced in April 2025.
Inside the left-hand-drive cabin, the replacement black vinyl front seats are fitted with Britax harnesses and mounted to JET Motors brackets. A Newton Commercial carpet set, a four-point roll bar, a heater, a fire extinguisher and a JET Motors short-shift kit were added in 2016 and later. The Moto-Lita steering wheel, which has a white centring stripe and a digital display on the lower spoke, sits on a lowered column. The dashboard carries replacement Smiths instrumentation, including a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 7,000-rpm redline, alongside auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, water temperature, and oil pressure and temperature. The digital odometer inset into the speedometer has not been calibrated and shows no reading.
The seller is offering the car on behalf of their brother. Documentation includes a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, which lists factory colours and equipment and confirms the car was dispatched to the USA on June 22, 1967, along with service records and an Idaho title in the current owner's name. The engine number, 9FSAY46360, matches the sequence on the heritage certificate. The Idaho title records the odometer status as exempt.
The sale comes as the classic Mini continues to attract attention from collectors, while the modern MINI brand remains closely associated with its heritage. MINI has said it will keep its signature circular display in its current models, with its general manager for Australia, Alexander Brockhoff, arguing that the round screen is part of the brand's history dating back to the original Mini of 1959, which had a centrally mounted circular speedometer.
