A 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe with just 2,800 miles has been offered for sale after its conversion to Super Snake specification by Shelby American of Las Vegas. The modifications centre on a Kenne Bell supercharger system fitted to the 5.4-litre V8, which Shelby American rates at 725 horsepower.
Power reaches the rear wheels through a Tremec six-speed manual transmission, a one-piece driveshaft and a limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 gearing. The Super Snake package also adds an air-intake system, aluminium fluid reservoirs with billet caps, a short-throw shifter and a Borla cat-back exhaust system.
The chassis has been reworked with Shelby-tuned Eibach coilovers and sway bars. Shelby-Baer Extreme six-piston calipers clamp over cross-drilled and slotted rotors at each corner, and front and rear brake ducts help with cooling. The car rides on 20-inch Alcoa multi-spoke wheels in a Durabright finish, fitted with Pirelli tyres.
Visually, the car is finished in Performance White Clearcoat with matte black over-the-top and lower side stripes. The Super Snake conversion adds a carbon-fibre front splitter, rocker panels and mirror caps, a fibreglass hood with a functional scoop, vents and pins, side scoops, quarter-window scoops, sequential taillights, a rear spoiler and window tint. Super Snake and 40th Anniversary badging appear on the car.
Inside, the front bucket sport seats are upholstered in Dark Charcoal leather with Super Snake headrest embroidery and Shelby Cobra logos on the backrests. Super Snake logos also appear on the centre console lid, the floor and trunk mats and the door sill plates. The car includes a Shaker 1000 sound system with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, a power-adjustable driver's seat, remote keyless entry and air conditioning. Options over $1,000 include the GT500 Premier Trim Package.
The instrument cluster carries a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,000-rpm redline, supplemented by AutoMeter Carbon Fiber Ultra-Lite gauges for boost, fuel and oil pressure in an integrated dash pod. Serialized plaques on the dashboard and in the engine bay identify the car as CSM number 07SS0047. The digital odometer reads 2,800 miles.
The car has had two owners since new. The seller is offering a Shelby Automobiles Certificate of Authenticity, three Super Snake build sheets, one framed and listing the CSM number, VIN and equipment, and a framed window sticker showing a total manufacturer's suggested retail price of $44,865. Also included are the owner's manual, a 2010 service record and additional literature. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage, and the car carries an Illinois title, although the source material also describes the title as Indiana, and the Odometer/Brand section bears an "Actual" notation.
