The author of The Silence of the Lambs is selling his 15,000-mile 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 coupe, offered on Bring a Trailer with a signed copy of his novel.

Thomas Harris, the American novelist best known for creating Hannibal Lecter, is selling the 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 coupe he bought new in Miami and has owned for more than three decades. The car, showing just 15,000 miles, is being offered on Bring a Trailer from Texas, with a signed copy of The Silence of the Lambs included in the sale.
The 964-generation Carrera 4 is finished in black over gray leather and is powered by the air-cooled 3.6-litre flat-six engine, rated at 247 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque when new. Power goes to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle, and the car features a computer-controlled limited-slip differential. Equipment includes 17-inch Cup wheels, cruise control, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and air conditioning.
Harris purchased the car from Deel Porsche in Miami, Florida, and it has remained registered in the state ever since. The window sticker lists the original delivery, factory colours, and a total price of $78,333. The car has been maintained under current ownership, with recent work including replacement of the steering rack, tie rods, battery, fuel filter, and fuel pump. A brake fluid leak was repaired, and the transaxle fluid was changed in 2026.
The interior features reupholstered front seats in grey leather, a colour-coordinated dashboard and door panels, and Porsche-branded floor mats. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation with a central tachometer, a 180-mph speedometer, and gauges for oil pressure, temperature, and fuel level. The seller notes some discolouration around the carpeting and valve cover seepage, while paint correction was performed in 2026 with thinning noted on the roof.
The Carfax report is clean, with no accidents or reported damage, and the car comes with its owner’s manual, service records, a car cover, and a clean Florida title. The sale also includes a signed copy of The Silence of the Lambs, the 1988 novel that introduced Hannibal Lecter to a wider audience and was later adapted into an Academy Award-winning film.
This 911 Carrera 4 represents a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire a low-mileage example of Porsche’s first all-wheel-drive 911, with a provenance tied to one of America’s most celebrated thriller writers.
