A 1983 Porsche 911SC Targa is for sale in Chiffon White over Cadbury Brown leather, and the listing puts the car's mileage history at the centre of the offer. The odometer reads about 15,000 miles, but the seller acknowledges that the true total is unknown. Carfax records carry the brands «Exceeds Mechanical Limits» and «Not Actual Mileage» going back to 1996, and the current New Jersey title also carries the Not Actual Mileage brand.

The car is powered by a 3.0-litre flat-six with Bosch fuel injection, rated at a factory 172 horsepower and 189 lb-ft of torque. It sends power to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. Its equipment includes 16-inch Fuchs wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport tyres fitted in 2025, a removable roof panel, fog lights, sport shocks and power-assisted disc brakes. The interior has bucket seats, air conditioning, power windows and an aftermarket CD stereo.

The seller bought the car from a long-term prior owner and has carried out a series of recent mechanical jobs. The CDI ignition module, spark plugs, plug wires and a thermostat oil line have been replaced. The shifter bushings were replaced, the clutch was adjusted and a shifter coupler upgrade was fitted in 2025. The brake calipers have been rebuilt, the brake fluid changed and Turbo tie rods installed. The passenger seat bottoms and sun visors have also been replaced. About 500 miles have been added under the current ownership.

Documentation is a notable part of the package. The sale includes the window sticker, the owner's manual, service records and a car cover. The car was originally delivered by North Freeway Porsche in Houston, Texas, for $36,025. A removed speedometer reading 84,000 miles comes with the sale, although it cannot settle the question of the car's actual distance travelled.

For buyers, the central issue is the gap between the recorded and the actual mileage. A low odometer figure on a car with a Not Actual Mileage brand means the seller's account of the car's condition, and the service history that supports it, will carry much of the weight in any purchase decision. The listing presents the documents and recent work as evidence of the car's care, while leaving the mileage question open.
