A classic 1987 Porsche 928 S4 with a 5.0-liter V8, upgraded suspension and tuning is up for sale. The car has passed through several owners and US states.

A 1987 Porsche 928 S4 is listed for sale in Virginia. The car, with a black body and burgundy leather interior, previously went through the Bring a Trailer auction in May 2017, and the current owner acquired it in 2023. The car is now being offered by the owner himself, and the title is in his name in Virginia. Until 2017, the car was registered in Maryland, South Carolina and Virginia, meaning it changed registration states several times over its history.
Under the hood is a 5.0-liter dual-cam V8 with a factory output of 316 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. It is rear-wheel drive with a four-speed automatic transmission. According to the seller, the timing belt was replaced in August 2023, and fluid changes were carried out under the current owner. This information is based solely on the seller's statements and is not documented in the materials provided. The intake manifold and camshaft covers were sandblasted and powder-coated, a Porken tensioner was installed, and the air pump was removed.
The car's exterior has been noticeably modified. It rides on black 18-inch Turbo Twist wheels with staggered Continental tires, and the suspension has been replaced with coilovers with reinforced anti-roll bars and revised control arms. The steering rack has received Delrin bushings, and a strut tower brace from 928 Motorsports is installed between the front strut towers. The rear bumper is styled after the GTS, the side turn signal repeaters are clear, and the rear wheel arches have been widened to fit wider wheels. The exhaust system includes an X-pipe and high-performance catalytic converters.
The interior features an aftermarket stereo, Rockford Fosgate rear speakers, a different shift lever, a MOMO steering wheel and LED lighting. Factory equipment includes power-adjustable front seats, a sunroof, air conditioning, pop-up headlights, fog lights and a rear spoiler. According to the seller, the remote trunk release does not work.
The mileage is approximately 146,000 miles, of which about 5,000 occurred during the current owner's ownership. The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage, and the Virginia title marks the odometer as "Actual," meaning the readings are considered accurate. The left rear quarter panel was previously replaced, and there are cracks in the paint on the front and rear bumpers, visible in the listing photos. The sale includes literature, service records and a tool kit.
The 928 was produced by Porsche as a large grand tourer with a front-mounted V8 and rear-wheel drive, and the S4 is among the later versions of this line. Owners of such cars often face questions about the condition of the timing belt and suspension, so maintenance documentation becomes one of the main selling points in this case. The final price and terms of sale are not specified in the materials.
