Dinamo beat U Cluj 2-0 to move top of Superliga
Dinamo București defeated Universitatea Cluj 2-0 at the Arcul de Triumf stadium, with Armstrong scoring twice, to move level on points at the top of the Romanian Superliga.

Dinamo București secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Universitatea Cluj in the sixth round of the Romanian Superliga, with striker Armstrong scoring a first-half brace to settle a top-of-the-table contest at the Arcul de Triumf stadium in Bucharest.
The win, played out in front of a lively home crowd, lifts Dinamo to 13 points from six matches, level with FCSB at the summit of the standings. U Cluj, who arrived in the capital with a game in hand and sitting fourth, remain on nine points after suffering their first defeat of the campaign.
Armstrong opened the scoring in the 34th minute, capitalising on a well-worked move to slot past goalkeeper Lefter. He doubled the lead just four minutes after the interval, converting from close range to put the result beyond doubt before being substituted on the hour mark. Musi and Aliev both had chances to add further gloss to the scoreline, but the two-goal margin proved sufficient.
The match was billed as one of the standout fixtures of the early season, with both sides having impressed in the opening rounds. Dinamo entered the contest on the back of a derby victory over Rapid București, while U Cluj had yet to lose in the league, though their derby against CFR Cluj had been postponed due to the latter's European commitments.
Dinamo manager Nuno Campos named an attacking lineup, handing a start to Karamoko in a 4-4-2 formation, with Armstrong and Musi supported by Cîrjan and Mărginean in midfield. U Cluj coach Cristiano Bergodi opted for a 4-2-3-1 setup, with Aliev leading the line and Pinho operating in the number ten role. Both sides were missing key personnel, with Dinamo without Pușcaș and Epassy through injury, while U Cluj were forced to do without Gheorghiță.
The atmosphere around the ground began building hours before kick-off, with supporters gathering at the traditional DinamoFest fan zone near the stadium. Among the early arrivals was the club's former striker Adrian Mutu, who mingled with supporters ahead of the fixture. The playing surface itself drew attention for the wrong reasons, with images showing an uneven pitch and visible bare patches, a recurring issue at the venue this season.
Referee R. Vidican took charge of the contest, assisted by A. Vodă and D. Ilinca, with F. Mazilu as fourth official and I. Dima on VAR duty. The officiating team had a relatively quiet evening, with the game flowing despite the physical nature of the contest.
The result reshapes the early title picture. FCSB, who had led the table with 11 points before the round, now share the lead with Dinamo, while FC Argeș also remain in the mix on ten points. At the other end of the standings, FC Botoșani, UTA Arad, and Csikszereda are still searching for their first wins of the season, separated only by the number of draws they have accumulated.
For Dinamo, the victory represents a statement of intent after a promising start to the campaign. The club, historically one of Romania's most decorated, has shown signs of resurgence under Campos, and this performance against a well-organised U Cluj side will reinforce belief that a sustained title challenge is possible. U Cluj, meanwhile, will look to bounce back quickly, with their postponed derby against CFR Cluj offering an immediate opportunity to close the gap on the leaders.
