A first-year 1932 MG J2 two-seat roadster is being offered on dealer consignment in Texas, bringing one of the earliest examples of MG's J-Type line to the market. The right-hand-drive car is finished in red with black cycle-style fenders over red pleated upholstery and is accompanied by a tonneau cover and an Oklahoma title.
The J2 was one of four variants of MG's J-Type produced between 1932 and 1934, and approximately 2,100 examples of the two-seat roadster were built. This car, purchased by its current owner in August 2026, is powered by an 847cc inline-four engine equipped with a crossflow cylinder head, twin SU carburetors, and an overhead camshaft. The engine is said to have been shipped to England and rebuilt under previous ownership, and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale. Power reaches the rear wheels through a non-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission.
Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, Andre Hartford friction dampers at all four corners, cable-operated drum brakes, and 19-inch silver-finished knock-off wire wheels with chrome two-eared spinners. The wheels are mounted with 4.00-inch Excelsior Comp H tires, and a matching spare is secured by MG-branded polished metal straps at the rear. Suspension incorporates leaf springs, while stopping is handled by the cable-operated drums.
The bodywork features a badge bar with a central driving lamp, a polished radiator surround with a wire-mesh grille, a louvered hood, a folding windscreen, and rear-hinged doors with MG-branded handles. A rear fuel tank with a flip-up filler cap completes the exterior. An area of paint loss on the right-side door is noted, and a black vinyl tonneau cover is included in the sale.
Inside, the right-hand-drive cabin is trimmed in red pleated upholstery with color-coordinated door and kick panels. Black carpets line the floors, and a faceted octagonal knob tops the shift lever. A banjo-style steering wheel fronts an engine-turned instrument panel housing a Smiths 100-mph speedometer with an inset tachometer, along with gauges for engine temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. The car also features a split-bottom bench seat.
The four-digit odometer shows 582 miles, approximately 50 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The Oklahoma title carries a Classic brand.
