A Wimbledon White 1965 Ford Mustang coupe, claimed to be one of 60 built for the New York World's Fair, is offered at no reserve in Texas with historical documentation and restoration records.

A 1965 Ford Mustang coupe said to be one of 60 identical cars built for display at the New York World's Fair in April 1965 is being offered for sale at no reserve in Texas. The car, finished in Wimbledon White with the GT Equipment Group and Décor Interior, carries a binder of historical documentation and restoration records, along with a clean California title.
According to records accompanying the car, Ford presented a group of identical 1965 coupes at the World's Fair to celebrate the Mustang's first year of sales success. The event also marked the launch of the GT Equipment Group and the Décor Interior package. This particular example is claimed to be part of that batch and was delivered in May 1965 to Cutter Ford in Hermosa Beach, California, after its time on the East Coast.
The car's history is documented through correspondence with previous owners, which noted an accident affecting the left-rear quarter panel. A restoration carried out between 2016 and 2017 involved refinishing the Wimbledon White exterior and redoing the interior with a mix of reproduction parts. The work also addressed mechanical components, with the seller stating that the A-code 289ci V8 engine was refurbished during the same period.
Factory rated at 225 horsepower, the V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a replacement rebuilt C-4 three-speed automatic transmission installed in 2016. The fuel tank and exhaust are also newer components. Chassis modifications include Borgeson power steering, a dual-circuit master cylinder, Scott Drake springs and polyurethane bushings, and Koni dampers at the rear. The 14-inch styled-steel wheels were sourced from Coker Tire around 2017.
The luxury interior features Light Blue and White Crinkle vinyl with Pony-motif backrests, woodgrain trim, an AM radio, and a console. Instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, amperage, and coolant temperature. Refurbished Rally Pac instruments are mounted on the steering column. The five-digit odometer shows 32,000 miles.
Decoding the trim tag confirms the car's original specification: body code 65B for a coupe with luxury interior, colour code M for Wimbledon White, trim code 62 for Light Blue and White Crinkle vinyl, and a build date of March 26, 1965. The district sales office code 15 indicates Newark, while axle code 1 denotes a 3.00 conventional rear axle and transmission code 6 identifies the C-4 automatic.
The Mustang's association with the World's Fair batch adds a layer of historical interest. The 1964–65 New York World's Fair drew millions of visitors and provided Ford with a prominent stage to promote the Mustang, which had quickly become a cultural phenomenon. The GT Equipment Group and Décor Interior introduced at the fair became desirable options among enthusiasts.
Now in the hands of a selling dealer who acquired it in 2026, the car is offered with a binder of historical documentation and restoration records, along with Mustang Times features and ownership notes. The no-reserve format means the highest bid will secure the car, regardless of price. It is located in Texas and carries a clean California title.
