1984 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Turbo Offered Without Minimum Bid at Auction

A 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Turbo with W123 chassis is being offered with no minimum bid. The car is an example of the classic diesel models from the Stuttgart brand and appeals primarily to collectors and enthusiasts of the robust long-distance saloons.

The vehicle has already been through several stages. It was initially registered in California, Florida and Colorado. In 2016, a dealer acquired the car in non-running condition. After restoration, it served the dealer as a workshop vehicle. Later it stood idle for an extended period, and the transmission vacuum line was only reconnected afterwards. According to the vehicle history, no accidents are recorded. The car carries an Ohio title, and the mileage is listed as actual. Literature and service records are included in the offer.

Under the hood is a 3.0-litre five-cylinder inline turbodiesel which, according to the manufacturer's specification, produces 123 hp and 184 lb-ft. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a factory-fitted hydropneumatic level control on the rear axle. All four wheels have disc brakes. The fluids are due for replacement, although the engine oil was already changed under the current owner. Rust is visible on the air filter housing, and the tyres need replacing. Different tyre brands are fitted at the rear.

The bodywork is finished in Light Ivory and features a sunroof, fog lights and a roof rack. The silver 14-inch Bundt wheels are part of the package. Paint chips can be seen on the bonnet and the right front wing. The window seals show cracks, and aftermarket window tinting has been installed. The electric antenna does not work.

Inside, the seats are upholstered in Palomino MB-Tex, with bucket seats at the front and a bench seat at the rear. The car is equipped with a Becker cassette radio, cruise control and automatic air conditioning. The right front window cannot be moved, and the switch for the left rear window works only intermittently. Whether the air conditioning and rear window heating function is unknown. The dashboard and gear lever trim are cracked, and the driver's seat is worn.

The mileage is uncertain. The odometer shows 349,000 miles, with around 6,000 added under the current owner. The true total mileage is unknown. The speedometer works intermittently, and the tachometer and coolant gauge have failed. A transmission problem is suspected but could not be confirmed as resolved. Several electrical and climate-control functions remain untested.
