1991 BMW M5 E34 With 147k Miles Listed for Sale
A 1991 BMW M5 E34 with 147,000 miles and extensive modifications is offered for sale in Connecticut, with a clean Carfax report and recent mechanical work.

A 1991 BMW M5 E34 has been listed for sale, offering collectors a well-used but extensively modified example of the celebrated high-performance saloon. The car, finished in Sterling Silver Metallic over Silver Gray Nappa leather, shows 147,000 miles on its digital odometer and is currently registered in Connecticut in the seller's name.
The E34-generation M5 was produced between 1988 and 1995 and remains a landmark model for BMW, combining understated executive styling with a motorsport-derived inline-six engine and a manual gearbox. This particular car is powered by a 3.5-litre S38B36 inline-six paired with a Getrag 280/5 five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Under previous ownership, the engine was fitted with a Mark D'Sylva engine management chip calibrated for 93-octane fuel, according to the previous owner.
The vehicle's history shows it remained registered in California until 2019 before spending time in New Mexico and Mississippi. The seller acquired it in February 2022. Since then, work is said to have included replacing the distributor, battery, clutch hydraulic hose, and oxygen sensors, along with rodent remediation. The clutch hose was replaced in August 2026, according to the seller.
Modifications carried out under previous ownership extend beyond the engine management chip. H&R springs and Bilstein shock absorbers were installed in place of the factory self-levelling suspension components. A Euro-specification steering wheel and bumper mouldings without side markers were also fitted. Inside, the cabin was upgraded with extended leather and Alcantara trim, including a grey leather-trimmed dashboard, console, glove box, and door panels, plus an Alcantara headliner and pillars.
The car rides on factory 17-inch M System II wheels with «throwing star» covers, mounted with 235/45 Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tyres. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs with ABS. Exterior details include projector-style headlights, front fog lights, tinted windows, and a revised front air dam, rear valance, and rocker panels compared with the standard E34. Paint repairs were performed and the bumper valences and rocker panels were repainted to match the body colour under previous ownership.
Inside, the heated and power-adjustable front sport seats are trimmed in Silver Gray Nappa leather. The driver's seat is worn and has a hole in the outer bolster, while the bottom of the driver's door seal is torn. Equipment includes air conditioning, an onboard computer, power windows, cruise control, and a Boss touchscreen stereo head unit installed under current ownership. The leather-trimmed Euro-spec steering wheel frames a 180-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level.
Rodent remediation under current ownership involved removing the lower dash, cleaning the blower assembly through the engine compartment firewall, and treating the cabin with Ozium, according to the seller. Approximately 2,000 of the indicated 147,000 miles were added under current ownership.
The sale includes spare parts, a car cover, the removed factory steering wheel and stereo, an owner's manual, an indoor car cover, and accessories. A clean Carfax report shows no accidents or other reported damage. The car is offered with Connecticut registration in the seller's name.
