1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupe Heads to Auction
A 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S with 126,000 miles, a six-speed manual, and extensive service history is being offered for sale, with records documenting a 2020 damage entry and subsequent bodywork.

A 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S finished in Arena Red Metallic over Cashmere Beige leather is being offered for sale by its current owner, who acquired the car in November 2013. The air-cooled 993-generation coupe shows 126,000 miles on its six-digit odometer, approximately 32,000 of which were added under current ownership, and comes with service records, a spare set of wheels, a spare DME relay, a car cover, and a Carfax report.
The car is powered by a 3.6-litre flat-six with a VarioRam intake system, factory-rated at 282 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. Drive is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. The 993 was the first 911 to feature multi-link rear suspension, and this example also has an Automatic Brake Differential. The owner notes that a Motorsound package is equipped, and that the car has a boosted brake system with ABS and larger discs along with larger Turbo torsion bars.
The C4S is distinguished from the standard Carrera by wider rear bodywork and a front air dam derived from the contemporary Turbo. This example has been refinished in its factory Arena Red Metallic and carries Tore Bergvill HID headlights with washers, clear corner-marker lenses, a Gert’s front protection bar, brake cooling ducts, heated power-adjustable mirrors, a power-operated sunroof, black rear bumperettes, a speed-activated rear spoiler, a rear wiper delete, and dual wide oval exhaust tips. Paint protection film has been added to portions of the exterior, and a ceramic coating has been applied.
A March 2020 entry on the Carfax report lists minor damage to the front, rear, and right rear of the car, and subsequent bodywork documentation is provided with the sale. The 18-inch hollow-spoke Technology wheels are mounted with Bridgestone Potenza tyres, and a spare set of wheels is included.
Past maintenance includes replacement of the rack-and-pinion steering assembly in 2017, the rear CV axle shafts in 2018, and the rear lower track rods in 2019. The lower valve cover gaskets were replaced in 2017, the secondary air injection valve has been replaced during current ownership, the brake fluid was changed in 2022, replacement front Bilstein B6 Performance struts were installed in May 2023, and the drive belts were replaced in 2024.
The cabin is trimmed in Cashmere Beige leather with a colour-coordinated centre console, door panels, and carpeting, plus Carrera 4S-branded floor mats. The driver’s seat is 12-way power-adjustable and the front passenger seat is eight-way power-adjustable, with lumbar support on the left seat. Amenities include cruise control and air conditioning. A Bluetooth-capable Sony DSP receiver is linked to a JL Audio 750-watt six-channel amplifier under the passenger seat, Rockford Fosgate two-way front speakers, ADS rear speaker plates, two 8-inch Polk subwoofers in removable enclosures, and two Focal subwoofers.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, a 180-mph speedometer, a Quarz analogue clock, and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, and fuel level. The horn basket has been replaced. The option sticker decodes to Arena Red Metallic paint, Cashmere Beige partial leather with black cabin accents, US-market specification, power-adjustable seats, wheel caps with full-colour Porsche crests, cruise control, lumbar support, a power sunroof, and a Becker-Porsche CDR-210 stereo.
The car is offered with a clean Minnesota title in the owner’s name. For collectors of 993-generation 911s, the C4S occupies a particular place: it combines the wide-body look and Turbo-derived front end with all-wheel drive and a manual gearbox, a specification that has kept demand steady among enthusiasts who prize the last of the air-cooled engines.
