A 1999 Shelby Series 1 Supercharged, one of only 249 built by Shelby American, is offered for sale with just 2,600 miles on the odometer and a factory-supercharged 450bhp V8.

A rare 1999 Shelby Series 1 Supercharged, one of just 249 examples produced by Shelby American, has been listed for sale with only 2,600 miles on the odometer. The car is finished in Centennial Silver Metallic with red vinyl stripes over a black and gray leather interior, and it is offered on dealer consignment with an Arizona title. Fewer than one-third of the 249 Series 1 cars were reportedly fitted with a Vortech supercharger by Shelby American, making this a particularly sought-after specification.
The Series 1 was designed from scratch by Shelby American and manufactured at the company’s facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was the first car to be fully engineered and built by the company, rather than being based on an existing platform. The aluminum chassis is paired with carbon-fiber and fiberglass laminate bodywork that incorporates a front-hinged heat extractor hood, fender vents, and an integrated decklid spoiler. The suspension uses inboard-mounted coilovers with pushrod actuation and remote-reservoir dampers, a setup more commonly found on racing cars than road-going machines.
Power comes from a factory-supercharged Oldsmobile-derived 4.0-litre quad-cam V8, an engine known as the Aurora L47. A version of this unit was used for Oldsmobile’s racing efforts in IMSA and IndyCar competition, and in this specification it was rated at 450 horsepower. The engine features carbon-fiber covers, a Shelby-specific engine management system, and unique camshafts. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted RBT/ZF six-speed manual transaxle via a torque tube. Headers feed into a Borla exhaust system, and braking is handled by vented discs with four-piston front calipers and single-piston rear calipers. A fresh-air brake duct system has also been fitted.
The car rides on 18-inch multi-piece alloy wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. Inside, twin Cerullo bucket seats are upholstered in black and gray leather and feature embroidered Carroll Shelby signatures on the backrests. Additional appointments include billet aluminium pedals, a carbon-fiber shift knob, a Monsoon CD/cassette stereo, and air conditioning. The four-spoke steering wheel frames a Shelby-branded instrument panel housing a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. A serialized plaque showing serial number CSX 5821 is affixed to the dashboard.
The digital odometer indicates 2,600 miles, approximately 2,000 of which were added under current ownership. The car lacks a traditional VIN and is titled as a 1999 SHEB roadster using VIN CSX5281. The title carries an Actual odometer note. The Series 1 was a bold attempt by Carroll Shelby to create a modern sports car bearing his name, and its limited production run and racing-derived engineering have made it a collectible modern classic. This example, with its low mileage and supercharged engine, represents one of the most desirable versions of the model.
