Mac Davis's 2006 Ford GT Heads to Auction in Canada
A 2006 Ford GT originally owned by the late Grammy-winning singer Mac Davis, with a dashboard autographed by Carroll Shelby, is offered for sale in Canada with just 6,000 miles on the odometer.

A 2006 Ford GT that was bought new by the late Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Mac Davis is being offered for sale in Canada, bringing to market a low-mileage example of the American supercar with a famous first owner and a distinctive specification. The car is one of only seven built for the 2006 model year finished in Midnight Blue and ordered without racing stripes, making it a rare variant of a model already prized by collectors.
The GT was purchased new by Davis, who registered it in California under the personalised plate THXLVIS. Its dashboard carries an autographed message from Carroll Shelby, the legendary American racer and car designer who was a friend of the singer. That personal connection, combined with the car's unusual colour and stripe delete, gives the vehicle a provenance that extends beyond its mechanical specification.
Power comes from a mid-mounted 5.4-litre supercharged V8 with an aluminium block, cylinder heads and pistons, a Lysholm screw-type supercharger, dry-sump lubrication and a water-to-air intercooler. Factory output was rated at 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a Ricardo six-speed manual transaxle and a helical limited-slip differential, a combination that has helped the GT earn a reputation as one of the most engaging modern sports cars.
The car was exported to Canada and acquired by the seller in 2012. Its digital odometer shows 6,000 miles, approximately 1,000 of which were added under current ownership. A December 2012 entry on the Carfax report notes a mileage inconsistency after the odometer was recorded in kilometres, which the report suggests may be the result of a clerical error. The same report lists no accidents or other damage.
Chassis and body construction follow the model's established formula: aluminium body panels over an extruded-aluminium space frame with roll-bonded floors. The design, led by Camilo Pardo, was conceived as a homage to the Le Mans-winning GT40 racing cars of the 1960s. Equipment includes HID headlights, fog lights, side air intakes, a vented hood, a front splitter, a rear diffuser and a dual centre-exit exhaust system.
The car rides on 18-inch and 19-inch BBS cast aluminium wheels fitted with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Scuderia tyres. Suspension is by double wishbones with unequal-length aluminium control arms, coilover shocks and front and rear stabiliser bars. Brembo brakes use four-piston monoblock calipers with cross-drilled and ventilated rotors measuring 14 inches at the front and 13.2 inches at the rear. The brake fluid was replaced in June 2023.
Inside, the cockpit is trimmed in Ebony leather with manually adjustable Sparco seats featuring carbon-fibre shells, GT40-style ventilation grommets and harness slots. An aluminium console with rotary climate controls tops the central tunnel, while carpet floor mats are embroidered with the car's production sequence. Air conditioning, remote keyless entry, push-button ignition and an aftermarket shift knob are also fitted. The leather-wrapped steering wheel sits on a tilting and telescoping column ahead of a GT40-inspired instrument array, with toggle-switch controls below additional gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, boost and fuel level.
Recent maintenance includes an oil and coolant change in June 2023 and a battery replacement in April 2026. LED light strips have been added to the upper engine bay braces. The original window sticker lists initial delivery through Galpin Ford in North Hills, California, with a total MSRP of $153,345.
The car is offered in Canada with previous registration cards, manufacturer's literature, service records, a factory car cover and an accident-free Carfax report. It is being sold on its British Columbia registration, which serves as an ownership document in the province. For collectors, the combination of a single celebrity owner, a Shelby signature and a rare no-stripe Midnight Blue finish places this GT among the more distinctive examples of Ford's modern tribute to its Le Mans heritage.
