A rare 1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am in a limited anniversary edition is listed for sale on the Bring a Trailer auction platform. The car shows about 27,000 miles on the odometer and draws the attention of collectors thanks to its preserved equipment and notable ownership history.

The car is painted in Starlight Black and fitted with a Buckskin vinyl interior. According to the seller, the previous owner wet-sanded and polished the paint, and the decals were replaced. The grille and headlight surrounds feature gold accents. The car rides on reproduction 15-inch Snowflake wheels with white lettering on the tires. A spare set of gold Honeycomb wheels is also included, allowing the owner to change the car's look without additional expense on parts sourcing.

Under the hood is a 400 cubic-inch V8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor. The rated output is 185 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The powertrain is paired with a three-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, and the rear differential features a Safe-T-Track limited-slip mechanism that distributes torque between the wheels when grip differs.

According to the listing, the car was displayed for a long time in a collection in Tennessee. In 2026 it was acquired by the current owner. The car was originally built for delivery to the Steve Johnson Pontiac dealership in Colorado Springs. It is now registered in Oklahoma in the seller's name. The odometer reads "Exempt," meaning the mileage reading is not officially verified at registration.

In 2026, the gaskets on the engine, transmission, and rear differential were replaced, and the seller performed a fluid service. Since purchase, the current owner has driven about 50 miles, which is the only notable use of the car under his own care. The car comes with documentation from Pontiac Historic Services, which helps confirm its origin and equipment, as well as a reproduction of the original build sticker with factory specifications and spare parts.

The seller also notes outstanding issues. The analog clock does not work, and the originality of the replaced parts and decals is not confirmed. For buyers who prioritize preserving the car in its original state, these circumstances may be decisive when assessing its value. Anniversary editions of the Firebird Trans Am are in demand specifically among collectors who value complete documentation and authentic parts.
