A 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa G50, finished in Guards Red and fitted with a limited-slip differential, sport shocks and a rebuilt 3.2-litre flat-six, is offered for sale in Indiana with service records and a clean Carfax report.

A 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa G50, distinguished by its optional limited-slip differential, sport-tuned shock absorbers and a 3.2-litre flat-six that was rebuilt in 2023, is being offered for sale in Indiana. The car is finished in Guards Red over black leather and comes with service records, a clean Carfax report and a clean Montana title in the seller’s name.
The Targa body style combines an open-air driving experience with the structural security of a fixed roll bar, and this example features a black removable roof panel. It has been fitted with front and rear spoilers, European-market rear bumperettes and Carrera side decals. Integrated fog lights and heated power-adjustable side mirrors are also present. Rust around the driver-side rocker panel has been repaired, though paint blemishes remain visible in the gallery.
The car rides on 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels — 7.0 inches wide at the front and 9.0 inches at the rear — mounted with Pirelli P Zero tyres. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs. The suspension has benefited from a series of maintenance items: Bilstein dampers were installed in 2015, turbo tie rods in 2016, and the spring plates were replaced in 2017. The rear brake pads, rotors and shoes were renewed in 2022.
Inside, the cabin is upholstered in black leather with power-adjustable front seats, Targa-branded floor mats, cruise control, air conditioning, and power windows and locks. A Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) system has been added, replacing the original Blaupunkt Charleston SQR 26 cassette stereo listed on the option sticker. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation, including a central tachometer with a 6,300-rpm redline, a 170-mph speedometer, a Quarz clock, and gauges for oil level, oil pressure, oil temperature and fuel level.
The six-digit odometer shows 123,000 miles, approximately 3,200 of which were added under current ownership. The odometer gears were replaced in 2018. The 3.2-litre M930/25 flat-six features Bosch Motronic engine management and was factory rated at 217 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. An engine rebuild was completed in 2023 at a cost of around $31,000, with records and photos documenting the work. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a G50 five-speed manual transaxle and the optional limited-slip differential.
Transmission maintenance includes a clutch slave cylinder replacement in 2015, clutch and master cylinder replacement in 2020, shifter bushing replacement in 2022, and a transaxle inspection and reseal in 2023. The option sticker decodes to Guards Red paint (L80K), US-market specification (C02), the Blaupunkt cassette stereo (160), limited-slip differential (220), 16-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels (395), 8-way electrical seats left and right (437, 438), cruise control (454), and sport-tuned shock absorbers (474).
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage. The car is offered in Indiana, and the sale includes service records and a clean Montana title. With its rebuilt engine, recent transaxle work and desirable options, this Carrera Targa represents a well-documented example of the classic 911.
