A rare 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo cabriolet equipped with the factory M505 slant nose package is being offered for sale in the United States after being imported from Canada in 2025. The car, finished in Velvet Red Metallic over a red leather interior, represents one of the more distinctive configurations of the 930-generation Turbo, combining open-top motoring with the flachbau bodywork that Porsche reserved for special-order customers.
The M505 package, known as flachbau or slant nose, replaced the standard 911's upright headlights with pop-up units integrated into vented front fenders. Side strakes and extended side sills completed the look, which was originally developed from Porsche's racing programme. The car also features front and rear spoilers, integrated fog lights, and dual exhaust outlets. A replacement red convertible soft top was fitted, and various roof cables and gears were replaced in 2025.
Power comes from a turbocharged 3.3-litre flat-six engine, factory rated at 282 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a five-speed G50 manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential driving the rear wheels. Recent maintenance has been extensive: the turbocharger, thermostat, washer pump, and various gaskets were replaced in 2025, while work in 2026 included a new battery and a rebuild of the fuel distributor and warm-up regulator.
The car rides on forged 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels with black centres, mounted with Pirelli P Zero tyres. Braking is handled by four-wheel cross-drilled and ventilated discs, and Turbo models received front and rear sway bars as standard. Inside, heated and power-adjustable front sport seats are upholstered in red leather that extends to the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, and centre console. Turbo-branded floor mats line the footwells, and the dashboard and upper door panels were reupholstered in 2026.
Amenities include air conditioning, an analog clock, power windows, and a Blaupunkt cassette stereo. The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation, including a central tachometer with a 6,700-rpm redline, a replacement 170-mph speedometer, and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, fuel level, and boost pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 70,000 miles.
The Carfax report notes that the vehicle was recovered after theft in August 1995, a detail that adds a layer of history to an already unusual machine. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2025 and is offered with a clean Florida title. For collectors of air-cooled Porsches, the combination of the M505 slant nose, cabriolet body, and G50 gearbox makes this a particularly desirable example of the 930 Turbo, a model that has long been celebrated for its raw performance and distinctive character.
