A 1990 Porsche 928 GT finished in black over black and equipped with a five-speed manual transaxle is being offered for sale, presenting a rare opportunity for collectors seeking a well-documented example of the marque's front-engined grand tourer. The Canadian-market car has been the subject of more than $42,000 in service commissioned through Pfaff Tuning in Toronto following the seller's purchase in 2024, according to the listing.
The 928 GT sits at the performance end of the 928 range, combining a 5.0-litre double-overhead-camshaft V8 with a limited-slip differential and a manual gearbox — a configuration that has long appealed to enthusiasts who prefer a more involving drive than the automatic-equipped variants. Factory output was rated at 326 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, delivered through LH-Jetronic fuel injection. Power reaches the rear wheels via the five-speed transaxle, whose mounts were replaced in September 2024.
The recent service record is extensive. Work at Pfaff Tuning since 2024 has included replacement of the injector harness, alternator, starter, battery, resonance flap actuator and oil pressure switch, along with the intake manifold hoses, gaskets and seals. The intake manifold was resealed, and a Porsche Classic Communication Management system was installed to bring modern infotainment to the cabin without disturbing its period character. The 16-inch Design 90 wheels were fitted with Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres in 2024, and the rear brake rotors were replaced in September 2024. Stopping power comes from four-wheel vented discs.
Cosmetically, the car is finished in Black and features pop-up headlights, integrated fog lights, body-colour mirror caps, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, a rear window wiper and dual exhaust outlets. The cabin offers power-adjustable front sport seats upholstered in black leather, two rear bucket seats, memory settings for the driver's seat and air conditioning. A leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that includes a 300-km/h speedometer, a tachometer and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage and fuel level.
The digital odometer shows 110,000 kilometres, approximately 68,000 miles, of which about 6,000 kilometres were added under current ownership. The car is offered with a factory Porsche tool kit, recent service records and an Ontario registration, which serves as the ownership document in the province. A Carfax report notes an accident in May 2003 with estimated damage exceeding $1,000 CAD, though no further details are provided.
For buyers drawn to the 928's blend of long-distance comfort and V8 muscle, this GT's manual gearbox and limited-slip differential set it apart from the majority of examples. The documented expenditure at a specialist tuner also addresses the maintenance concerns that can deter newcomers to the model. The car is being sold on its Ontario registration.
