A 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S with only 3,200 miles on the odometer has been listed for sale, offering collectors a rare opportunity to acquire a virtually unused example of the final air-cooled 911 generation. The car, finished in Guards Red over Classic Gray leather, was originally delivered to O'Daniel Porsche in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and is now offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, original window sticker, owner's manual, service records, and a clean Carfax report.
The 993-generation Carrera 4S is distinguished by wider rear bodywork compared with the standard Carrera, along with a front air dam derived from the contemporary Turbo. This particular example was optioned with Aerokit front and rear spoilers, hard-back front sport seats, the Motor Sound Package, and Litronic headlights with washers. It also features a power-operated sunroof, cruise control, a CD stereo, and air conditioning. The selling dealer acquired the car in 2026, and it carries a clean Florida title.
Power comes from an air-cooled 3.6-litre flat-six engine equipped with a VarioRam intake system, factory rated at 282 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. The Motor Sound Package added a revised airbox cover, mufflers, and exhaust outlets compared with the standard Carrera. Power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. The car also features an Automatic Brake Differential, and the 993 was the first 911 to use multi-link rear suspension. Braking is handled by red-finished Porsche-branded calipers over cross-drilled rotors at all four corners.
The silver-finished 18-inch Turbo Twist wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. Inside, the power-adjustable hard-back front sport seats are upholstered in Classic Gray leather, complemented by a colour-coordinated centre console, door panels, and carpeting. Carrera 4S-branded floor mats line the footwells. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, a 180-mph speedometer, a Quarz analogue clock, and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, and fuel level.
The 993 generation represents the last of the air-cooled 911s, a fact that has made it increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors. The Carrera 4S variant, with its Turbo-derived styling and all-wheel-drive chassis, is particularly prized for combining the wide-body look of the Turbo with the naturally aspirated flat-six engine and a manual gearbox. Low-mileage examples such as this one are rarely offered, and the extensive documentation — including the Certificate of Authenticity listing powertrain numbers, factory colours, and optional equipment — adds to its appeal.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage. The car is offered with a clean Florida title. With just 3,200 miles showing, this Carrera 4S remains in exceptional condition, preserving the driving experience of Porsche's final air-cooled era.
